Just wanted to check back and say thanks for giving me the correct direction for setting up the Word Press blog with my personal domain name.
I would like to clarify something though, the process was a little more complex than clicking a couple of links in a c-panel. It has been close to 24 hours in my case and I still do not have access to start building the Word Press blog.
Several representatives made the same type of references, just click here, click here and that should be all there is to it.
Here's my story, please understand that the est. times include holding times as the companies are busy as usual.
1) I had to contact my hosting company, after much discussion, they do not have the CT-panel features that was previously referred to. Est. time 30 minutes
2) I contacted two hosting companies by way of the phone and viewing their websites, Host Gator and Go Daddy. We discussed various hosting plans that would work. Est. time 45 minutes
3) I decided to go for it and purchased a hosting account. I did so while talking to a representative. Before getting off the ph he said follow the prompts for setting up Word Press blog. Estimated time 20 minutes
4) I had to get familiar with the hosting companies pages to find and follow the prompts, this required a lot of reading wading through many options to find the Word Press link. I tried it on my own but the companies terms were to short and obscure to follow. So, I Had to call reps again so I could get on the correct path, he helped and I completed the Word Press configuration.
Estimated time 30 minutes
5) Was told by a representative to check back in about 2 hours but that it could take up to 24 hours for the set up to be finalized.
6) Three hours after completing all the above, Word Press confirmed, all systems go.

Except, when I accessed the Word Press link, in the new hosting account, it took me to an existing 404 error page that I have for my .com domain which is active with a different hosting company. I had registered to use a .org domain ( which has been parked at another hosting company for a while) for the Word Press blog. Est time 15 minutes
7) Called tech support, representative said he wasn't sure why and he put me on hold. He came back on the phone and said for me to wait over night and check it in the morning, if there was still a problem to call back. Est time 20 minutes
8) In the morning checked status, still error 404 page, called hosting account tech support. After much discussion discovered that the because the domain was parked at a different hosting company, there were more steps to take. He then explained that I would have to contact my other hosting company and give them two DNS codes which he provided.
Est time 30 minutes
Which by the way there was never any mention of this during the set up or by any of the several techs that I had talked to. The required step during the set-up was to enter the domain name to be used for the blog. There was no explanation as to if the domain was elsewhere further steps would be required.
9) Contacted the company where I had originally purchased the domain name and they said I would have to create a help ticket. The representative took me through the correct process.
Est. time 20 minutes
10) I am now waiting for the domain pointing to be finished, was told that it could take up to 48 hours before it is complete.
I really am very thankful to all of you for your input about how to get a Word press blog set up to have my own domain name. As you can tell I am in the learning process of how all of these things work. I just wanted to offer a different perspective to this forum post.
