Default Blog Commenting & Traffic Building

I just recently started blogging more in the last 2 months and I've also taken the time to subscribe to more blogs in my niche and comment on various articles. The traffic I receive from blog comments has been surprisingly good.

Just wondering if anyone else comments on blogs regularly and if you've noticed a difference.

P.S. Why didn't anyone tell me that blogging can be so addictive???

I just started blogging also, but at a very limited stage because I don't have my site up yet. However, I comment on a lot of blog sites mainly to get information about my niche and basically to learn the blog world. Sometimes I wonder that not having a site yet will hurt me in the long run because I don't have anything to put in my sig file.

As far as the addictiveness, there's this one medication that I would recommend to you that I use on a regular basis. Blogging is very addictive and time consuming. So what I do is take this new drug called, "BREAKITOL" or "BREAK IT ALL". I break all my keyboards, monitors and smash those pesky little mice that keeps making those clicking sounds. ROFL.

Naw, but in all seriousness, I do understand that it is VITAL to have your website in your sig file when blogging and the more INVOLVED you are with other blog sites within your niche that it increases your chances for massive exposure.

The only drawback I can foresee is the time taken to consistantly comment on all your blogs to maintain relationships and credibility. I understand that some work has to be put in it, but I don't want blogging to be a full time job for me either.

BREAKITALL. I love it. I just took some.

In regards to your sig file, why not just put your blog in your sig when commenting? So you're saying that because you don't have a site you don't use anything in your sig when commenting?

I do not comment much on other people's blogs, but based on what I have heard many times before combined with your experience, Lisa, I will start doing that on blogs in my niches.

Speaking of commenting on blogs, I made some smart alec comment on one of your blog posts the other day, Lisa... can't remember what I said now, but I know it was goofy I hope you didn't hate it - lol.

Lisa,

You're right, i've been building websites for a while but don't really have a site of my own. So when I blog, I don't use a sig file. However, all of that is about to change after discoving your 2createawebsite and websitebabble sites. Here are a few sites that I've done in the past that you can check out, but none of them really benefit me except for just being in my profile.

www.eckertfinearts.com
www.brushstrokesartgroup.com
www.acalltosalvation.org
www.openarmsmin.org

Hope it was okay to list those, just wanted to show you some of my past work. I'm about to start a wonderful project for myself, so watch out! :-)

Blogging is VERY addictive, but once you break the flow it is hard to get back into it. I'm updating my homeschool blog this weekend, and I found a great website on the basics of using technorati and building traffic.

http://www.bloggingbasics101.com/101..._i_start_.html

I'm going to start commenting on blogs next week. How many blogs do you try to read/comment on each week?

i do comments on blog regularly. as my blogs just 3 months old...i need to customize my blog so i usually comments a lot.. blogs regarding customizing & blogging tips & tricks.

Commenting on other blogs not only builds traffic but also get to know what other blogger is writing about.

Commenting is not something I have really gotten into, but I do try to comment where I can.

I'll have to improve my commenting in the future.

Also, it's not just about commenting just to be commenting. There's a strategy behind it in terms of making them useful and stand out. The same approach you'd take to writing content for your site or blog.

I was going to say something similiar to what Lisa posted. ANYone can comment about anything, but is that really what blogging is all about? You need a focus, an area, a specific on what you're going to blog about, create a site (niche) and comment on....it's very broad and I personally think that's where a lot of folks get hung up on.

You want to blog, site-create, comment, etc. on something that will make it (niche, topic, area of interest, etc) stand out and make it be remembered and thought about that you want to start an audience and give them a reason to return to you, your blog, site, whatever it is.

And it's not the quanitity of your comment, it's the qualitiy, at least that's what I believe. Sorry for rambling but I couldn't help it-

Renee

Right on, and if anyone needs any convincing look at Eric Meyer's blog on css. Once in a while he writes two days in a row but more often he goes a couple weeks between posts. And he is a tier one blogger. Why? Because he is always on target and has something to say.
