Default Frustration downloading Rssreader

Okay, remember I am a novice here and I have never done anything with the RSS button before. I am trying to subscribe to the RSS feeds. I went to download RSSreader, and it says I am to download the .NET framework 1.1. I am running Vista.

At the microsoft site, 1.1 seems like an old version...do I need to download the newer version? Actually, I could only find the 1.1 service pack, not the original download.

Is RSSreader the best way to go or is another reader better? I already downloaded it but it will not run without the .NET framework.

Thanks.

Okay, after more reading and research, I may have discovered the answer myself. If there is a better way, please let me know. I think I found with Thunderbird I can subscribe through the account settings.

I should also be able to put it in the Firefox toolbar...but I am not sure I figured out how to do that yet. I still have to download Thunderbird onto this computer. At any rate, I am tired so this will have to wait for tomorrow.

Thanks.

Another alternative is to use a web based RSS reader such as Google Reader.
