What RSS can do for the development of one site?

It could search engine indexed your page,and could get you traffic.

RSS is not something that really does things on your website, it's rather just a feed that other people and other sites can pick up on and then from there be redirected to your website. With RSS then other sites can post your blog posts and sometimes comments on their site which may have more traffic than your website and then from there people can be directed to your website. Also as someone else pointed out it also aids in search engines. It allows search engines to quickly know when new blog posts, comments and changes are made so they then can spider and index the new stuff or changes. Therefore making that stuff listed in the search engines faster.

RSS feeds can help with backlinks and expand your audience (especially if a big site picks up the contents of your feed).

RSS is a great way to keep your readers connected and up to date on new posts. If it wasn't for RSS feeds the interesting blog you found a week ago would be long forgotten

(used to happen to me until I started subscribing via RSS)
