Default Subaffiliates

I've heard about subaffiliates but am a little confused as to exactly how they work. I am a member of IMC which has this program but I don't know how to find and sign up subaffiliates.

Sub affiliates are people who join the IMC affiliate program through your link and you earn a percentage of anything they sell. It's also known as two-tier.

Just so we are on the same page - I'm asking if I understand right...

this may be obvious to some of you but...

just to clarify - sub affiliates (or 2 tier) are created when someone joins an affiliate program through your link? (when that program offers the second tier?)

But you do not advertise the affiliate program, just the product?

So if someone happens to stumble upon the affiliate program through your link, even though the link is for product, they automatically become your sub affiliate?

sorry for the wordiness!
having trouble expressing what I mean clearly!!
Thanks

Is there a simple way to get these people signed up?

I do not know if your affiliate id for the product would be carried over to the sub-affiliate/tier 2 program. I would assume this would be the case, but I would specifically check on that, because it may vary based on the program.

No. They would have to specifically sign up as an affiliate.

Well, I think the best approach to monetize this is to create a website that is targeted to affiliate marketers... so you would review different affiliate programs (that may or may not have a tier 2/subaffiliate program). Now, I am cringing a little when I say this, because I would not recommend starting out on a website that is targeted to affiliate marketers... this market is hugely competitive and fierce!

I hope this clarify things a little.

Gotta agree with Sherif on this one. Just from a personal experience, I started off in affiliate marketing with my first site. It was so competitive I got out. I also promoted the IMC and other affiliate courses but got swallowed up in the competition. I then learned to create sites on less competitive niches.

Not to say you can't succeed but just understand what you're up against. I know the commissions for the IMC are nice but it is a very tough niche. And if you're a beginner with Internet marketing, it's a place many experts will tell you to steer away from.

As far as sub affiliates, don't be mislead. It's a fact that 98% of sub affiliates that sign up under you will never sell a thing. I always look at my 2nd tier as an added bonus but rely on my sales of the product. Most people don't get rich off their sub affiliates.

Prime example. I am an affiliate for SiteSell and I have over 1,000 sub affiliates where I earn a percentage of their sales, maybe 5 of them are active and the commissions I earn from them is hardly much. Don't get me wrong, some is better than nothing but I just see it as a bonus... not a big source of income.
