Welcome, success79!

OK...where do I start...

First of all, there are thousands of successful affiliate programs and almost all of them have top performers. I could list them but the numbers would be endless.

The key is not about finding programs first. You have to get traffic to your site and I would start by building a site on your passion. So many new affiliates (and I was one of them) start their online money-making quest by building a site about money making or joining an affiliate program that is about money making.

These sites are usually doomed because...

1) There's way too much competition
2) They don't have enough unique content to draw in repeat visitors and more importantly... the search engines ignore them.

You need traffic. How do you get traffic? By having your own domain first and then start building your own unique content on a theme. THEN you make money by joining affiliate programs that fit the theme of your site.

So the key is not to look for the programs first. You have to build a site that is "search engine friendly" then there will be numerous good affiliate programs you can choose from. But if you're not getting any traffic, the best paying affiliate programs won't earn you a cent.

If you had a site about crafts then you could join a crafting program and that could make you thousands of dollars because the program fit your niche. If you had a site about football, you could join a sports related program and make a killing with that. So it's not about just finding good programs, you need a heavily trafficked site with good content. Once you have that, you can make a killing on anything.

Allan Gardyne wrote a great article called "12 mistakes affiliates make" and he said the first mistake is they build sites about making money when they aren't making any themselves. The problem is you are competing with a huge number of onlie marketing experts and other people with sites like yours so getting traffic is nearly impossible.

I used to belong to sixfigureincome.com and was so enticed because I heard about all these people making so much money. I joined and made nothing. Why? Because they give you a replicated website just like the other zillions of people out there just like me. And the search engines ignored my site because it's just a replica and they can spot those.

That's why I bought Site Build It! - Site Build It! - Affiliate Marketing (not an affiliate link!) Because it teaches you how to build a heavily trafficked site FIRST and then you join affiliate programs that fit your theme. Thousands of thousands of SBI customers (many of them post here) are makign a decent income from their sites. Many of us started out looking for the "most successful programs" and realized we were doing it backwards.

So that was a very long winded way of me saying, there are tons of successful affiliate programs. The key is not finding the program, it's about building a trafficked site FIRST then find the profitable programs within your niche. Any affiliate program can be successful, you just have to find a way to sell their products from YOUR site.

Have I rambled enough yet?

I wish you much success.

Thumbs up Very Profound & concise! Thanks

Hi Max,

Thank you for your response! I appreciate such a condensed, profound, concise, and just to the point.

Well, I will be taking your advice based on the fact that the life-blood for the survival of any business is "Teavy Traffic" and I totally agree.

Seems a very widely stabdard acceptable principle. I might add that its the same situation when a person set-up a small store Front and if no one come to make a purchase then it is doom for failure.

Anyway, thanks for your insights and input.

Hey Success79,

I have to agree with Max. It depends on what the subject of your site is. You could make a killing off bestbuy.com's affiliate program if you had a site on electronics but if you had a site on web hosting you probably wouldn't make a cent because the two topics are unrelated.

Me personally I've had great success with Clickbank's affiliate program but that's because I learned how to master AdWords. I find hot products and bid on very niche keywords and make a profit just by using PPC.

So I ask you? What kind of programs are you looking for? What specifically are you interested in?

Have you joined any of the big networks like CJ and LinkShare? They have a wide variety of products on almost every subject.

I haven't had any luck with any of those pay to surf schemes. There's always some sneaky catch.

I agree angie. Pay to surf is worthless. If it really did work you'd be reading all these stories about people making money like you do with regular affiliate programs. There may be the exception every once and a while but I think these programs should be banned. They make it so incredibly hard for you to even make a penny and they give people false hope.

Smile Become Rich FRom Home!

There are many affiliate programs out there that promise to you making thousands of dollars. But in reality, you need some guidance on how to get started and where to begin. It is possible to make tons of money online but a lot of these affiliate programs dont tell you how to do it! I have spent hundreds of dollars on these programs and nothing really worked except for [URLs deleted. This is not a forum for self promotion. Please read the rules. http://www.websitebabble.com/welcome...ing-rules.html ]

Welcome cori_willers! I had to edit your post because it was self promotional in nature.

Just a note to people who reply to this thread. This is not a place for you to recommend a program just for the sake of advertising your affiliate link or site. If you recommend a program, please include the top level domain name (www.site.com) and not an affiliate link or personal site.

Seclinix, you may put affiliate links in your sig file, but changing your sig file to fit the subject of your post is not allowed (bluehost reference) and I may decide to disallow affiliate links in sigs if I see this continue.

I don't make the rules to be mean but if people see one person get away with they'll follow the leader..... and this thread was a prime example. Two spammy posts right in a row. If I let it go, more people will do the same.

Lisa, i agree with you. I don't want this forum to lose its meaning or focus. I would hate to see good people leave this forum because of spamming or because no one is moderating it.
Your rules are still lenient when it comes to posting links. Some forums have strict rules and they ban you without any warning even if post a innocent link.
