Default Hypothetical Affiliate Marketing situation

Hello everyone!

I have a hypothetical AM situation followed by a question. So here it goes:

Lets say I am a father with 3 kids and a wife. I am surfing the web and come across Lisa's website where she made a post about an online class followed by a certificate. The class is about MS Office and lets say it costs $500.

After her post, Lisa puts a banner for the MS Office online class website which links to the companies website making Lisa an affiliate for them.

I click on the banner because it interests me and the MS Office online class website opens up. After reading a bit through the website I find that I like it very much and I decide to purchase the online package so I can participate in the classes and get the certificate. Although I have decided to buy the package, I have to consult my wife first and see if we have the money to invest in such a thing so I bookmark the website and close it.

The next day, after consulting with my wife about home finances, we decide it could be a good investment and I get back to the site via the bookmark in my browser and purchase the program.

So here are the questions:

1. Does Lisa earn commission with my purchase even though I didn't access the MS Office website from her website (the banner under her post) although I did find out about the website for the first time by visiting her site (and she should earn commission because she practically made the sale by advertising them)?

2. Do affiliate programs have some sort of browser tracking technique that can allow them to place a referal cookie into my browser that will recognize me visiting their website for the first time as being refered to it by Lisa?

That's about it, I hope I made it clear and everyone understand what I want to find out.

Most affiliate programs actually will insert a tracking cookie to your pc. Now don't panic these are not the same as the ones that are sending your surfing activity out. These basically just show that you have been to the site and where you came originally. This is to give credit to the person who originally got you to the site. Depending on the program depends on how long the cookie works. I have seen a few for as little as 24 hours and others that are up to 90 days.

So every affiliate program has that feature? That is good because if the didn't it would mean a lot of lost income for the affiliate marketers.
