Default Affiliate Marketing Using Article Only!

Just want to share an idea shared with me by a lady when I met her during a internet business gathering recently. She said she has been doing affiliate marketing for the past 3 years only by writing good article. I would like to share this idea to people who have the time to do this.

Her steps are:-
1. Find a good and reliable product/services, ebook or anything
2. Write 3 to 5 high quality (according to her pay attention to content first, keyword second) article.
3. Leave the article author signature section with a link to the the landing page (affiliate link must be cloaked - better results)
3. Submit those article to 20 top directories.
4. Wait.
5. Sales comes in periodically, but when you have various product and article, it tends to be almost every other day...

I believe this will work, but I am not sure how much the conversion ratio of sales...

Anybody have done like this before...

Ah you mean using article submission sites and placing a clocked link on the bottom of each article? I suppose it could work, never actually tried it but it sounds interesting.

This is actually a really good way of marketing affiliate promotions... usually it's called "article marketing"... but you will also see that it's referred to as "bum marketing".

The idea is that you would find a good keyword (somewhat in demand, but also low in competition) and write a good article and submit it to an article directory (e.g. ezinearticles.com, associatedcontent.com, goarticles.com, etc). Your article will be listed faster in the search engines, because it's linked to a high page rank (PR) website.

Essentially, what is happening is that Google relies on high PR websites for content, so your article has a great chance of being listed much quicker than if you had posted the same article on your own website (unless your website has a PR of 6 or 7).

Some article directories require manual review... i.e. someone will read your article and make sure the content is of high quality. They will more than likely reject articles that are purely promotional... and ezinearticles.com does not allow that you list affiliate links in your author bio... but your author bio could include a link to your website, which would have an affiliate link.

If you are interested in article marketing/bum marketing, I highly recommend http://www.bummarketingmethod.com by Travis Sago.

Hope this helps a little... let me know if you have any questions.

Yea...I'm doing it now with the birth control blog. You get better results if you can keep up the pace of adding a couple of article a week and you have multiple sites.

The secret in in the keywords and the number of article you submit per product/affil. It ain't really gonna work if you write 1 or 2 articles. The more you've submitted the more chances you have at geting click thrus and someone using the artcle on their site.

The article will show up in Google really fast and stay a high in the rankings but they but they don't stay on the first or second page forever, thats the reason you want to keep submitting articles centered around the same non-competitive keywords. Over time the content on your site (if you linking to a site as well as an affil) takes the place of the articles submitted to directories.

The problem to over come is writing articles associated with products you don't know anything about! I'm struggling a little with writing number of articles I need. My case is specific tho'...I can't link to a store to sell prescription drugs from the article...it's a rule that a lot of places enforce (I didn't know that when I started)

Ezines has a very strict policy about putting product names in article titles...they reject them and then you have to fix it and resubmit. In my case I'm pointing the link to a "product info page" that has a link to buy at the bottom and one of the "reviewers" had a problem with it...I waited a while and resubmitted

I've never linked directly to an afill page or a page to purchase a product in ezines. I would think they don't like it but I'm not sure...other article directories are less strict.

As with all things the devil is in the details...If your not a copywriter, getting 3-5 articles submitted then submitting 2-3 a week for as long as it takes to get the machine running can be a hellish experience and a lot of folks give up.

Ok guys... I will be meeting her this evening on the second session of the internet business gathering. I will definitely ask her the problem with leaving affiliate link in the author signature section...

Once I get her answers, I will share in this forum hopefully by tomorrow...

Default Update to my previous post

I went back to look at some of the emails and problems I had using ezines.

* Their Terms of Service doesn't say anything about product names in titles but they often get rejected because the "reviewer" thinks it's "promotional"

* I had a couple of problems in the resource box because i used words like "buy here" or "purchase here"

* I've linked to a sales letter and squeeze page to give away a free book and grab their email without problems. That gets thru just fine. I've never linked to a product in a "store" so I don't know if that works or not.

* They don't want anything to do with prescription drugs and make it hard to submit articles.

* They DO check the links in the resource box. They rejected an article because the Product Info Page I linked to had obvious links to buy medicines...I redesigned it and it got thru.

Those were my problems and there's usually a work around. In my experience wording in the resource box is important and the article should be informational (it helps a LOT if you know the product and/or the subject) NOT promotional.

Hope this helps

hi guys...

I met the lady again the other night at the gathering and its true she do comes across problem with some article directory especially when you try to place affiliate link as mention by Mike.

In that case, the resource box is directly linked to a page in her website that have some additional crucial information which is not mentioned in the article. The entire page will have only one link... the link is the affiliate link. No other link is shown, therefore visitors are shown two choices, either to click on the link expecting more info or type in another address and move on.

Since the visitors will be quite highly targeted to the topic, they most probably will click the affiliate link expecting more info...

Some article directory policy does not stop author to place affiliate link in author signature box, therefore this problem does not happen with these directories.

Well...may be I should start to try this...
