Default Unfounded fears about affiliating with other programs?

    Hello,

Hope everyone is doing well on this Saturday. So we are starting to look more into affiliating with different programs that relate to our niche. Some of the affiliation stuff is simple and just links to a product. The ones I am looking at as of now and talking about in this post are programs that are related to our niche, but are not programs we offer as of yet.

I was all ready to do this and then some hopefully "unfounded fears" and thoughts are coming up surrounding this. People ask us a lot of questions about how to do what our niche is about a lot. Lets just say for example that our niche relates to losing weight using a specific kind of program. We get asked a lot how to do this specific program and answer peoples questions always, but we do not have a program of our own as of yet to point them to.

We are interested in making our own program, but this is going to take us months and months of time. Since we have a lot of traffic coming to our site right now we would like to be able to have a program we are affiliated with that could help these people with their goals and also help us monetarily for all of the work we have done and for pointing them in the direction of others programs.

We rank #1 in a keyword I targeted from the beginning and are also beginning to rank well in other larger keywords. What I started thinking about was is it wise to affiliate with others who are in similar niches and point people to their programs? Even though we may be gaining from this right now, would this be something we may regret later? I think about traffic and losing audience to another site as well. I mean they can find these other places and programs on their own either way so whether I point them there or not may not matter...Then again it may???

Are these worries and thoughts unfounded???? Am I looking at this in the wrong way? Thank you very much for any answers!

So if I'm understanding you, you're worrying about sending people away and losing potential customers for your own product down the line?

Well first of all, if you are collecting email addresses, you will have an audience to promote your future product to when it launches. I personally don't think there's any harm in recommending another product until you have your own and make some extra money. The other option would be to do nothing and not making anything right?

Ah yes. Thank you. Sometimes you just need to hear others thoughts on something and especially from people who have been doing this much longer. The other option being doing nothing and making nothing is kind of what I was thinking also. We are also looking at the products closely and making sure they are quality, and that we believe they are good for the people we will send to them.

Thanks for the response and the thoughts Lisa.
