So basically he is an affiliate for several different companies. He then creates ads for tjhese products on AdWords and makes a profit on them. Now I have no idea what the "Professional Exam" entails but apparently he passed it and earned this rank. He is probably very clever at writing ads and generating a profit (good ROI). Good for him!

So basically, you need have the creative and marketing knowledge and skills to convert your clicks into sales. Do you think you need do your own creative tailored to the products you are advertising to do adword campaigning? What if you link your ad word campaign right to merchant product page/website? Does that work for you?

ROI stands for Return on Investment.

Let you advertise a merchant's product using google adword campaign at $.10 a click. Let say the product your are advertising is $10 and you earn a comission of $4 on each sale.

So, by the end of day if you had 100 clicks and 10 sales on your campaign. That means you spent $10 on advertising and you made $40 in sales revenue (10 * $4). Which means your ROI was $30 ($40 - $10).

ppcFanatic can you clarify if im on the right track?

Creativity is so key. Some people are great at writing killer headlines and getting the click but can't convert the sale once the visitor lands on the landing page. It takes a lot of practice. My ROI is nothing where I'd like it to be but I'm making a profit and trying to really work on my ad copy if I don't like the merchant's sales page.

Some products have a strong enough sales page where you don't need to create your own landing page. I promote a lot of Clickbank products and if you've ever noticed that many of the clickbank product landing pages are very well written with good sales copy. Occasionally I'll write something myself using a squeeze page but most of the time I try to find products with good sales pages so I don't have to re-write anything.

Clickbank also lets you sort products by "Gravity". In other words they tell you how many distinct affiliates earned money promoting the book over a given period. If the gravity is high it usually means the product is new and/or converting well. If it's too high I try to stay away because that means there are probably a lot of AdWords campaigns on it but if it's too low that means it's probably hard to convert. So I try to find products with a mid-Gravity.

For example, go to Google and type in "keyword elite" with no quotes. (Keyword Elite is a Clickbank product) Look at all the adwords campaigns on the right. I tend to stay away from products with a lot of advertisers. Yes, this product probably converts pretty well but there's too much competition.

That's why I always suggest getting a good book on how to get the most out of AdWords before trying it. You can lose a lot of money. I sure did in the beginning and my ROI is still not where I want it to be.

Thanks webdev for the clarification on ROI.

So ppc, you don't have to have a website necessarily to promote adwords? I didn't realize that. I certainly wouldn't be trying AdWords at my experience level but this is interesting stuff.

Nope. No site needed. You can use the merchant's site as long as no one else is using it for the keywords you are targeting. Google only allows one top level domain per keyword phrase bid.

So let's say you are wanting to promote your affiliate link under the keywords "hot dogs" and your affiliate link from the merchant company you are using for AdWords is
affiliate107.hotdogs.com but someone else is bidding on the same keywords and their affiliate link is affiliate108.hotdogs.com (hotdogs is the top level part of the domain) Google will not allow more than one top level domain for the same keywords. That's why people often buy their own domains just for adwords.

Hey ppcFanatic, thanks for sharing that info.

Question i have...
So, can you make your own domain name for your adword campaign? or do you have to buy a domain name?

OH! and would you recommend www.googlemoneypro.com? Is there a cheaper and ligit manual out there?

I'm not sure what you mean by "make your own domain." The only way I know to get a domain name is to register one.

Here's a great book...

I honestly don't know much about googlemoneypro but if this guy is as good as he seems to be then it may be worth having.

Well, you know how on a google adword campaign you can make up your domain name on the bottom url text. Let say im advertising lsd monitors. My actual domain name could be www.example.com but i can actually make it appear www.good-LCD-monitors.com on my google ad word campaign. Does google allow this? DO you buy separate domain for each of your different niche campaigns?

Thanks for the book recommendation. I've bookmarked that amazon link for later use.
