I have written a list of ideas for a website and then have gone through and added a list for each topic on my list for content I could add, and then also looked at who I could affiliate market for..

The top 2 website ideas I narrowed down to, the companies I want to affiliate for have no affiliate program, would it be a good idea to e-mail the company and ask if they have an affiliate program or if they would make one or should I just keep looking for other companies and not bother them?

Keep looking for other companies. If a company has a affiliate program the first place they willl promote it is on their website. Also if the demand were high most companies would make one. Since they don't already have a affiliate program demand is likely low. There are plenty of good affiliate programs out there so you might as well move on.

I found 6 main companies for my niche and only 1 has an affiliate program.. And it happens to be the last one on the google search..

So I guess once/if my site gets going I could possibly increase their business?

You certainly could. Remember in most niches you can promote generic affiliate programs. For example many websites promote web hosing on their about page in case people want to create their own website in that niche.

I also found websites selling books/e-books, CD's and gifts on my topic using http://www.associateprograms.com/ search tool.

So now I have a company and other websites for people selling their e-books and stuff.

Haven't found many affiliates yet, but its better than none and also a start, for me anyways..

Have you also looked to see whether they have independent affiliate programs? Some companies will have, rather than advertising such programs through the major networks.
