Elad from coolest-kid-birthdays.com and coolest-birthday-cakes.com posted an interesting thread in the SBI formus, explaining how he managed to triple his adsense CTR. He used to put pictures directly on top of his adsense ads and had great success with it. But Google soon made that a violation, which cause a slight drop in Elad's CTR. He was trying to think of a way to make his ads stand out without making them stand out too much, while at the same time, not being in violation of Google's rules. He then came up with the idea of putting highlighted quotes ahead of the ads, and his results were astonishing. He persuaded other SBIers to try it, and for most of them, it works. Last night, I took my top four pages and added quotes on top of my ads and saw a significant change - just overnight. It's still too early to tell if this will work in the long run, but we'll see what happens.
