Default Is adsense dying ?

Over the months, I have observed that there has been a gradual decrease in the pay per click amount. It used to average about 40 cents once, then it became 20 and now it is about 13. While these figures may not mean anything as there are so many factors involved, I do believe that adsense as a ppc network is dying slowly.

Have you made similar observations ?

Yes, my revenue is down too. Not sure if it's because it's August (usually one of my slower months) or because of the reasons you mentioned. I'm not sure if it will ever die completely but we may not see the payouts we are used to seeing. Although last month was one of my highest months... so that's why I was wondering if it was just seasonal.

Another reason could be that adwords doesn't have the minimum bid like Yahoo! does. Even the minimum bid at clicksor is 10 cents. So if someone bids 2 cents, the ppc will be at most 1 cent.

I believe that if Adwords has a minimum bid like say 10 or 15 cents, it will ensure that webmasters get the proper share.

My Adsense is waaaay down too... I can come up with 2 reasons for this:

1) as I have personally experienced it, a lot of advertisers have been "slapped" by Google... I, for one, used to use Adwords heavily, but they changed their algorithm (or something) and all of a sudden, minimum bids are $5 or $10... of course, no body will dump their precious advertising money on such outrageous CPC (cost-per-click). I think a lot of advertisers shifted from Adwords to Yahoo, MSN, or others... I certainly did.

2) I have read multiple times that when you're advertising with Adwords to turn off the "content network" option... i.e. as an advertiser, your ads will only show on Google search pages and not on content pages. For some reason, it has been determined that conversions from clicks from content pages are very low, so most advertisers either a) turn off their "content network" option from their Google ad campaigns, or b) they bid waaaaay lower on keywords for the "content" option.

I would speculate that these 2 reasons would contribute to lower Adsense checks.

I am sure Google is doing fine, but I wonder if they noticed a decrease in their income from advertising...

To be honest I always disable the content network for my campaigns.

Me too and I would imagine most Adwords customers do.

My adsense is down too. I think they are busy pushing the CPA (cost per action)

I got a click of $3.22 last week

Like my mom always said don't put your eggs into one basket. Diversify

I've had an upward trend the last three to four days. In fact yesterday was extremely high day for a Sunday. Usually my Sunday revenue is dramatically lower than the rest of the days.

Default Alternatives to Google

Anyone tried using other advertising pay-per-click schemes instead of Google. For instance, Yahoo or Bidvertiser? Do any of these others pay better than Google?

When I setup my Google campaign I tick off the option to now display my ads on the Content Network.
