Arrow Adsense for content and referral ads

Hello everyone!

This question might be silly, but in the new Adsense referral system, do referral ads also count as Adsense for content ads? I'm asking this because maybe I've put too much google ads on my website.

I think yes. Google is yet to update its terms and conditions. I would suggest wait for some time and let use see what they say.

Since the ads are pey per action, we can write a sales letter and ask visitors to click on the ads because, this is the way the CPA model works. However, when I visit the terms and conditions pages, I see they still say no to encouraging clicks, etc.

Let us see when they update their terms and conditions.

But even if we did write something like " click on the ads", i doubt that google will raid our website and ban us(atleast not very easily). I doubt they have the time and energy to check each and every adsense partner website for any violations!

But still, to be on the safe side, we should not do so.

You'd be surprised at how well they monitor sites.

Last week someone stole my entire content on my Adsense page. Apparently the person was violating the terms by saying "click here" in some spots on their page. Well since they weren't smart enough to change my AdSense code to their own, Google thought it was my site and emailed me about the "click here" violation. I told them it wasn't my site and that someone stole my content and the AdSense code.

But my point is, they are constantly watching and I believe the team they have dedicated to monitoring sites is very thorough. They have to be because if AdSense members start violating terms they run the risk of losing AdWords advertisers. It's very important to them that AdSense remains "clean."

You may be right there.

I've got this weird but often true thought. Dont you think that today's internet audience has become more and more savvy? I think that whenever they see adsense ads which interest them, instead of clicking them, they probably smile an evil smile and note the URL of the advertiser and open it up in a new window. This way the webmaster gets deprived of his rightful income and the advertiser gets a kinda free visitor! For one, I often do this!

What do you guys think?

I think that's true in certain niches. For example affiliate marketers and webmasters recognize AdSense ads and often ignore them, but audiences in other niches are not as aware.

When I explain to my friends about AdSense many of them have said they've seen these ads on other sites but didn't realize the webmasters got paid for them. Some of them just thought they were part of the site's content (which is good) You'd be surprised how many people still don't know about Adsense and how it works.

That may be true, but as times change, more and more people will come to know about these ads. But i think that they might as well click on the ads instead of typing in URL in another window, because often the ads point to a location deep within the advertiser's website and the visitor would rather go to it straight than type in the whole address!

Agree Lisa.

Think about your 70 year old grandmother who has never heard of affiliate marketing going to Google.com and searching "needlepoint" and while she's reading a needlepoint website she sees a related Adsense ad next to the text she's reading. If she doesn't know about AdSense, she is likely to click on the ad because she believes it's part of the site or has some information related to what she's searching for.

It's easy for us to think that people know about AdSense 'cause we're in it to make money and we're wrapped up into this affiliate thing. But I bet many of your friends and family never knew what those ads were. I've pointed out ads to many of my friends and they were floored to know people were getting paid to display those ads.

Savy yes but when it comes to adverts they have no idea what its all about. We cant forget the average user will spend less than 30 seconds looking at a page and will click anything to move on. Usually if their eye is attracted to something they'll click it.

ppcFanatic sums it pretty well. I too showed friends & family how I earn on-line and they too had been floored. They laughed at me when I say I earn from the .com but I laugh back when I make money whilst sleeping.

Gotta love the internet.

I would have to agree with everyone. Thou i believe even some techy people (not exposed to online marketing) are oblivious to Google ads. They know they are ads but they don't care of not clicking on them.

Some of friends including me didn't know of Google ad sense until like 2 years ago even thou we all come from computer science background. We just were exposed to online business and marketing.

I think that if you are going to tackle a tech related niche, then you might have less turn over rate than tackling as im seeing with my php site but im not sure if this is entirely true.

I think many people are starting to know about advertising online, since many Web sites state that they survive based on advertising. Just think about the number of people online at this very minute, and how many probably will click an ad, regardless of their tech background or whether they know about adsense or not.

Companies spend much time and effort to create their ads to attract a visitors attention that it seems unlikely that people won't click on an ad.
