Default Adsense Alternatives (a guide by Andy)

Hi everyone. As some people may know, I've been searching for the best and most useful adsense alternaives. Well I'm willing to share the results of my searching and share some great alternatives to adsense for your website, blog or forum.

Some people unfortunately get banned from adsense either because of being "a risk to advertisers" or for "invalid clicks". This causes one to no longer have an active google adsense account and also loses all earnings from adsense. Well there are great alternatives out ther which I'm about to share.

1. Bidvertiser (http://bidvertiser.com)
Bidvertiser is a great alternative to google adsense. When adding your site to bidvertiser directory you place your site into a catagory. From that catagory, relavant ads will appear based on the highest bids for that catagory. You have full control over the ads that appear on your site to, as there is a page where you can see what the top ads are and can choose to approve them (default) or deny them from showing on your pages. Some keywords also have high pay per click revenue. Some clicks can generate $0.60 - $0.70 or more. Bidvertiser can pay by check (min $50) or paypal (min $10). Only downside to bidvertiser is that you can't have them on the same page as google adsense. Bidvertiser is definitely a look into as a google adsense alternative.

2. Adbrite (http://adbrite.com)
Adbite is titled "the internet marketplace". Adbrite ads are on a CPM (cost per 1000 impressions (page views)), and PPC (pay-per-click). Like bidvertiser you will place your site on a catagory and will display ads from that catagory. One recommendation for using adbrite ads is to use the keywords box and place relevant keywords from your site. I've placed thus far 23 keywords. This will help adbrite find the best ads for your advertising space. Also, people can buy your ad space through a "your ad here" link to the side of the ads. One downside is adbrite only pays via check but you can choose a payout as low as $5. A great advantage for a small site.

3. Chitika (http://chitika.com)
Chitika is an excellent adsense alternative or may be used alongside google adsense, whatever your pleasure. Chitka ads are great, especially if you run a product site or blog. Chitika will display ads for a particular product that your users can read a description, best deals, and search for other products all from within the chitika ad space. It offers ad sizes similar to adsense and fits neatly on most forum pages. Another great thing about chitika as that the ads can be made contextual. By default they are listed not but changing "ch_non_contextual = 1;" from 1 to 0 makes the ads contextual which in turn could mean a better click rate. Also chitika has a great referral program. You will earn a portion of revenue from your referrals for 15 months after your referrals sign up for chitika. Chitika ads are mainly pay-per-click but have just added a new cpm (cost per 1000 impressions) option for users to make even more money from their chitika ads. Even if you don't use a product site or blog, chitika is still a great option to consider.

4. Direct Media Exchange (http://direct.rightmedia.com)
Direct Media Exchange is a good means to apply and manage several advertising companies at once. First you sign up for DME and you will have access to applying to several top paying companieis such as CPX Interactive. These advertisers will bid for the ad space you decide to place on your website/blog. I can't say too much about them as I haven't started using them yet but it looks like a great way for small to medium size website owners to make money.

If you have any questions or feedback you'd like to share, please reply to this thread.

Good Luck,
Andy...

Hi Andy

This is all very helpful. I use AdBrite and have been talking with a guy from Chitika and may use them. The problem with Chitika is they don't have a lot of ads for webmaster related sites so I may have to use them on my fitness site. Do you use any of these?

I use Adbrite myself. I was using bidvertiser but in 6 months I only made $5.24. I tried chitika but since my site isn't a product site, it didn't really generate any clicks.

But even if they "failed" me, they can still be successful to others.
