As far as AdSense goes, I found that when I placed Google ads at the very end of my articles, my click thru rate nearly doubled. Remember you are allowed up to 3 units on your page.

I agree with Lisa. I noticed an increase in clicks when I placed the ads at the end of my posts. Once thing you can try is to create a channel for each location where you place your ads and see which channel gets the most clicks.

Hey Lisa,
Can you show us the page you are referring to so we can have a visual of what you're talking about here.
Thanks
Kevin

Thanks Lisa, I see what you mean now. You mentioned that Adsense allows only three unites per page? You have the ones on the bottom and on the right side. Does that mean you have two unites on that page. Just trying to get a better understanding so when I design my pages, i'll know what i'm limited to.

You got it. Basically 3 units would be 3 blocks of code.

Hi Lisa
That is interesting because a lot of people place them at the top. I have just started placing ads on my site and I have been moving them up. The general thought being that most people only read some of the info and don't scroll down to the bottom. I will keep some a the bottom!

Oh I completely agree Star. And just to clarify, I'm not comparing top to bottom. I only had them in my sidebar on 2create and later added them to the bottom. I chose not to put them on the top of most pages for various reasons. But yes, I could see why ads near the top of the page would perform well.

After listening to Lisa and everyone else talk about the placement of my ads, I realized that the type of content may also play a role in the number of ad clicks. I think the difference between Lisa's site, the hogstopper site and my YouTube site, it that Lisa's views are looking to really learn something. So the chances of them making it to the bottom of the page is a lot higher than on my site. If they get to my site, they may just be looking for the new videos on the home page and then they leave. With Hogstoppers, they may be looking for something specific, so they browse a little.
I said all that to say this; I may not be able to count on my limited content to get clicks. I think I need my ads to be highly visible to capture my viewers' attention before they leave. The same may also be true for Hogstoppers. I heard that yellow is the first color our brains process, so I thinking or using that color exclusively in my ads.
Is my logic flawed in this matter?

Good points, alpha7.
Another thing for me is that AdSense doesn't perform all that well on 2create compared to flat stomach. 2create gets nearly double the traffic of flat stomach but about 1/5th the clicks.
That's mainly because 2create gets a lot of traffic from existing Webmaters so they are aware of the AdSense ads so they generally ignore them. That's why I don't bother using the maximum number of ad units or experimenting too much with placement.
Rather than putting ads on the top where they'd probably have a better click-thru ratio, I'd rather just produce useful content and capture the visitor, and sacrifice a few bucks from AdSense.
On the other hand, my flat stomach site has a much, much higher CTR because it's a different audience and the ads also tend to be more targeted. On that site, I do have more ads near the top of my articles, etc. and I spend more time experimenting with placement. I also have 3 ad units on many of the pages to maximize revenue for that site.
So your niche and type of site, as alpha said definitely matters. That's why it's so hard to answer the "how much will make with AdSense?" questions I get. There are so many factors that determine your revenue.

Yes I agree guys. Websites that have all those ads crammed at the top are a turn off to me anyway. I did not start my website to 'make money' from ads but hey if there is an avenue that I can also explore whilst I build my site - why not I say!
I have already made some money with Google AdSense and I don't have a huge amount of content yet so it is worth my time experimenting.
