Default How do you decide which pages to put adsense on?

How do you decide which pages (and how many) to put adsense on? I have some that I think will eventually have affiliate links so I won't put any on those. What are some other determining factors? I have about 85 pages.

I started by using adsense on my top 5 most viewed pages. Now I have ads on every page, except for my "contact me" page.

Some people do not use them on the home page because if you get a click, you may lose a visitor before they visit any of your tier 2's.

You'll have to experiment and see which pages will generate the most clicks. It's all about trial and error.

Good points, West. When I first start a site I don't put them on every page either. I'm just always turned off by pages with too many ads, especially when they're too upfront and obvious. So to me, it's worth losing a bit of revenue to gain the respect and credibility of your audience.

Even to this day, I don't utilize AdSense ads to the fullest (in terms of maximizing the number of ad units allowed to use) but I think it's worth it.

With adsense its not about filling your pages with the code, its about embedding it neatly into your content so your users will click it. If i see a page will not look good with adsense on it I simply don't put it in.

Following on from what West said its a good idea to put ads on pages that have a high view rate so you are likely to get a good CTR.

However I like to have at least one ad unit on your homepage just a basic text links maybe, but definitely not overwhelm your page or you will lose your visitors.
