Default less money from adsense

hi

Has anyone noticed a decrease in revenue from adsense lately? I used to get an average of 30 to 40 cents per click but the last few weeks it's been about 4 cents per click, also I only get 20 to 30 visits a day my site is only published since late September but I have had about 140 clicks overall, does that sound like an average amount for the traffic I get?

Thanks

hi alana,
30 to 40 cents is the average I started getting is my site is 12 days old
and I heard that the HIGHER your traffic rate the bigger the revenue from each adv because the more visitors you get google gives you bigger priced advs
I'm really not sure about that but it's what I heard

Seems normal if you look at the economy. I'm sure websites are cutting down on advertising now that the economy is so unstable.

Default True, but not necessarily rational.

As Nora says,

This is true. Really intelligent decisions they are making, right!.

It falls into the same category as selling your mutual fund shares now because the price is low. Thanks, but I will buy while they are low, save them a few years and sell high.

When sales go down because people stop advertising they will say, "Yep. We are in a recession all right. It is a good thing I didn't waste my money advertising."

We may need to change our focus to appeal to where people are in their thinking, but we do not need to plan to be less ourselves when we can just as easily plan to be more.

lol James.

Being an Adwords advertiser, the issue/decision that I have encountered in some of my campaigns is that people still click on my ads (costs me money) but they are not buying as much. Now, there are a lot of factors that could be in play here. Most advertisers could correlate the bad economy with low conversions.

For me (and I suspect it's similar with others also), I have stopped some of the non-profitable campaigns until I figure out the cause. So in a sense, it could be that advertising is down because sales are down (not sales are down because advertising is down).

James, I think you make an excellent point, though. The "bad economy" has made many advertisers uncertain or fearful of losing money, so they stopped advertising at the first sign of a slow down, which could translate into less competition for advertisers who tweak their campaigns to remain profitable.

Default Sure, it does work both ways.

Right. it does work both ways. The other side was being presented strongly so I wanted to emphasize another.

It is not unreasonable to stop doing what will not be productive as long as it is proven that it is not working. But to quit because you assume it won't work because of something like news reports is not so smart.

You always have to make adjustments. For example, in another business area, consider a used car salesman. With the economic changes it might be wise to start emphasizing cars with better mileage rather than SUV's or something. But to give up and decide to wait for better economic times is self-destructive.

Change is always going on and it is important to make appropriate adjustments in the way we do business every day. If we adopt the philosophy that there is always a way to prosper and that changing conditions bring as many opportunities as dangers we will always do better.

It is no different in the online world than in the physical world.

I just started using Adwords. I'm getting about 100 clicks per day. My question is, how do you track profit/revenue. I'm new to Adwords and am in the learning phase.

They are real clear on billing and paying Google, but not on earnings/profit. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Bruce
