Default How much should I charge for ad space?

1. If someone wants to pay me for ad space on my site, how do I figure out a price for that? I was offered $30, but I have no idea if this is a good price.

2. How do I know if this is even legit? The person did not even provide a link to her site. She just told me the ad will link to a site that sells baby shower favors, and that she will pay me via paypal as soon as the link is added.

I asked her to provide a link so I can see the site.

Yeah that's always a tough one for me. If you use AdBrite.com to manage your ad space then they will set your prices for you depending on how much traffic you have. It's nice because the customer pays them instead of you but of course you have to pay AdBrite a commission. So at any time, a potential advertiser can look you up and see what your going rate is. AdBrite updates it accordingly based on your traffic.

OR you can choose to just use a monthly fee set by you. You don't have to use AdBrite's suggestions. You may think of starting there because the ads rotate on their own and go offline at the right date so you don't have to manage them yourself or worry about collecting the funds.

I used to use them for ads on my site and they were OK. I wish they had a few more customizable features but of course that's the price of outsourcing a 3rd party.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into adbrite. But first I'm going to wait and see if this person provides a link to her site, and take it from there.
