I ran across this youtube video the other day and was quite shocked at what I saw. I'm not sure if all this is true and I can't event validate the credibility of this video, however a lot of the information makes sense to me. I thought this was an interesting video and I wanted to share this with my websitebabble friends to hear your comments and opinions:
They do profile the users of their services but I don't believe the part they are working undercover for the CIA and even their Engineer (Matt Cutts) debunked the story.
Out of the 3 search companies, Google, MSN & Yahoo I would tend to trust Google more. At least they've refused point blank to hand over private user data to the U.S. Gov unlike MSN & Yahoo who jumped at the chance.
While I think the issue of privacy is valid, I personally do not think that Google is doing it as an undercover with the CIA.
Also, I was not aware of Google doing "genetic research". Where did the video makers get that info? In addition, in the end, when the video was implying that because Google is (presumably) conducting research in molecular biology and genetics, they would automatically have access to their users genetic data.
The whole genetics research and DNA was kind of an indication to me that this video may just be for hype and to initiate some conspiracy theories about Google.
Who made this video anyway? Was their genuine goal to really alert people to watch out for their privacy... or did they have an ulterior motive?
