Default Experiment with completely untargeted ads.

One of my sites is dedicated to my witing. Whenever a person clicks on a story or a chapter of a story a new window opens. In this window there is nothing but the story, some ads, and one or two links (home, and next if applicable).

In otherwords, no graphics at all. Visually the page is COMPLETELY unstimulating. I've heard that these are the best sorts of pages for ads, since this is where people will be most attracted to them.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I can't really reword all of my creative streams to display targeted ads. Really whatever ads show up are whatever ads happen to show up.

I think this will be an interesting experiment.

Here's my question, if you're talking about Google ads, how are the ads unrelated? Wouldn't they be somewhat related to the article/story?

I can see how adding ads to pages with no navigation, header, etc. could cause the reader to focus more on the ads because there's nothing but text and the ads. Interesting point. But I'm confused as to how they can be unrelated to the content (assuming you're using AdSense).

Yes, google adsense. ^^'; I apologize for not being more clear...

Well, since my site is about my work for the most part, I would like to display ads about reading/writing, make sense? But the ads that appear on pages of my story tend to relate to whatever word appears most in the story.

So if there is a scene where one of my characters is nervous, chances are they'll run their fingers through their hair a lot. And as a result, the ads will be about hair loss. xD Make sense? I suppose it's related somewhat to the content of the story, but not really the site over-all.

When I say unrelated I mean I can't really make any assumptions. I can probably safely assume that people visiting my site are interested in literature. I can't really assume if they're interested in hairloss, puppy training, or insomnia (popular ads on those pages it seems).

So are they? I guess we'll find out xD

I gotcha. Yes you'll have to let us know how that goes.
