    Default Adsense rules

I want to make sure in now way possible that my AdSense account will get disabled. What can I do to make sure that it doesn't happen? I know AdSense have a couple rules. But what are the main ones people get banned for?

    thanks

Default Your concerns are shared by many.

I know AdSense have a couple rules.
You need to add a couple zeros to that number, unfortunately. Your best bet is to read through all their material and make your own list. Others can tell you what they focus on, but your best approach is to think through what you would expect naturally and avoid. Then, as you read through the rules write down in a special list the things you might not have thought of on your own. If they were not obvious to you then you could much more easily violate them.

That said, there are some rules that are very basic and must be adhered to very carefully as you likely know already.

    • Never, for any reason should you or any family member or friend be clicking on your own links.
    • Never, for any reason, suggest to people that they click on your links.
    • Never make the ads appear to be something they are not, like a link to something in your site.
    • Never put content on your site that would be questionable (like gambling, alcohol, "adult")

If you get banned for them you are unlikely to get reinstated.:

The first rule that James has listed is probably the big one to remember. I have read about many people getting banned because of click fraud. It may come down to accidentally clicking your own ads, or someone thinking they are doing you a favour by clicking your ads, but Google has a very sophisticated algorithm in place to detect such clicks.

For me, I disable the AdSense Javascripts from running when I view my sight, so that way I don't accidentally click on any ads.

the biggest mistake I see from newbies is not having a private policy.

Great advice everyone. Unfortunately there is nothing anyone can do to 100% protect their site but following the suggestions above will get you off to a great start. But I would definitely say the #1 reason people get banned is the "friend or self-clicks". And the newer accounts seem to be more vulnerable since Google tends to watch those accounts closer.

Not to say mature accounts aren't at risk as well, so you can never be too safe.

Very good points all of you. If I didn't like someone I could go on their webpage and click all their ads many times and get them kicked from AdSense. Seems quite unfair...

But i'm guessing AdSense isn't the only Ad program that pays people? It seems like a lot of people get kicked from AdSense so i'm pretty sure there is a second most popular Ad program for the unfortunate ones that get kicked.
