Hey Seclinix,

Do you mean marketing or collecting the orders/payments for your book?

Hi Seclinix,
I use Paypal and no other shopping cart and I've had very few problems at all. My only concern is that my readers from Africa haven't been able to purchase - I ran into that twice.

I sell ebooks and an ecourse on my site. All 100% downloadable stuff. Paypal has made that very easy.

I'm moving toward other types of monetizing soon, and I haven't yet seen where I need anything "more" than Paypal.

One info-marketer I read (doesn't matter who) sent an email yesterday that stated that he has readers who don't like Paypal, who just want to pay with a credit card - so he had to add a shopping cart feature to his purchase area for a launch of a product he's selling.

I was a bit surprised at this- but I know some people don't like Paypal and he was able to easily accommodate these folks. With a large enough profit potential and a big enough readership, I can see how this move could make sense.

One last thing: I haven't tried a Paypal shop yet. I keep thinking I will, but never got around to it. Hard to say if it would be worth it in my case.

I'm surprised to be the first to give PayPal a negative comment. I do a limited amount of selling on eBay since not everything I sell is suitable for my website. I think its unfair that eBay forces all their sellers to offer PayPal (providing eBay with more of our profits since they own PayPal) but, thats not really the reason for my response to your question. I've been a PayPal member for years with no problems. That was until this past winter.

They no longer offer the support and help that they started out with. Let me give you an example of a recent experience I had with them. I was printing Global postage and there was a glitch in the PayPal system. This resulted in my being charged postage twice. After a month of waiting for a response and two generic emails, I received a nasty email from them stating that they were going to refund my postage. They also informed me that this was a one-time-only for-the-life-of-the-account courtesy by them. Even though it was their mistake, I got penalized.

This is just one of the latest problems I've had with them. It doesn't matter if you're a buyer or seller. You will eventually be hurt by PayPal. I can guarantee it.

Please, understand that I'm honestly not here trying to bash PayPal. I am a Business Owner trying to help you see EVERY side of PayPal.

For more info you can check out http://www.paypalsucks.com

If you do decide to go with PayPal, its not as if they're going to intentionally be gunning for you. Just be very careful and read their rules carefully.

Good Luck
