Relevancy is very important nowadays, and it had quite a bit of effects on Google Adwords for quite some time now. A lot of internet marketers complained (I did too at first) until I found out what was going on
In fact, I stopped using Google Adwords for quite some time, because they seemed to hate my website at the time.
Now, more than ever, it is very important to have very specific/targeted adgroups. Create different landing pages for different adgroups if you have to... this works out in your favor anyway.
If you don't mind, hoosier, I am just curious... was your landing page a separate entity or was it related to your website?
