Ahhh..I see so the site is not live yet. Yes, you do need a host so go ahead and sign up with their package. I wish you had come here first though there are so many more cheaper hosts than register.com But anyway yes sign up for their cheapest hosting package (you can always upgrade later if you need more space). But they are right. You can't actually launch a site without a host. The domain name is just the first step.

If you want you can still go to godaddy.com and use them to host your site. You don't have to stick with register.com just 'cause you registered your domain there. Godaddy's prices start at $3.99 per month. Can register.com beat that?

Once you've signed up with hosting, go to Google and do a search for a password protection script and you should be able to find instructions on how to password protect your page/site.
