I agree with foong, lots of sites now use Content management systems for gaming related sites, purely because they take away the labour of making piles of content yourself, and give you lots of editable features and plugins. However the only catch in all this as James said you need PHP 4 + and MySQL databases compatible to install the scripts and package bundle. But i can assure its well worth and it seems like it would definitely fit in with what you had in mind.
