I'm not sure if we're on the same page, though. You can create folders on your own domain and have them redirect to any site. You don't need to be an affiliate to set this up.

OR...

Did the merchant company have HIS domain in the URL?

For example...

amazon.com/2createawebsite is different than

2createawebsite.com/amazon

In the first link, amazon has created my affiliate URL based on the ID I chose when I joined the affiliate program. That link is hosted on amazon's site.

In the 2nd link, that's the redirect I was talking about earlier you can setup yourself. Some people do it to hide their affiliate links or to make them easier to manage and keep track of.

Just making sure I'm understanding which format you saw.
