Default PhotoShop - Save for Web

Hi, When I've designed HTML pages I always design complete page in PS, slice it. Then use PS's Save for Web option to save it as a complete HTML page. After that mess with it in Dreamweaver, so it will function as it should, and you pretty much have a website if you didn't want to add anything more advanced.

Now, a lot of people are telling me that it's really bad way to make a website like this, as what photoshop does is basically just create a whole bunch of tables and fill them with images. I never really got into coding HTML as I've got what I need with other ways, WYSIWYG and other web programming languages have done the job so far.
Now somewhere it said that google doesn't like a lot of pointless and empty tables, that the main content should be in the left row of table etc.

So, I was thinking - if it really is that important then - How to optimize photoshop generated HTML page (How to optimize HTML tables) so google would like it?
