So that makes normal hosting cheaper. The problem with having a server is that you need to have huge knowledge with running and maintaining a server. Also you need to know what is installed on the server. You may have to buy software for the server etc. There is allot more costs involved with setting it up and running it. Personaly I don't see a problem with normal hosting since you can upgrade without a problem. HostGators cheapest dedicated server is $174.00/month so this shows there must be more to it than just buying the server.

This is beyond my knowledge. Maybe someone with more knowledge on servers can help you out.
