I think they still value DMOZ too. As Matt said, any directory that has editorial control (they don't accept any and everyone) means that Google may place more value on it.
However, I've stopped trying to get in to DMOZ. 2 Create a Website was the only site that made it in. Fortunately today there are other ways to get into Google and a DMOZ listing is not as much of a necessity. I remember a time when that was an absolute MUST to get into. Thank goodness times have changed!
