I usually write technical articles, but much of the content on the Web is technical. Trying to avoid duplicating some the content can be difficult. What I usually do is read the content and make points in a text document, very short points.

I then go back arrange the points into a readable order, and then write the content. By that time the content should be unique compared to the originals. Writing good articles takes time as I can be very wordy compared to others.
