Webdev - maybe SBI isn't for you.
It isn't that SBI does web marketing per se for me. It's that the tools benefit me (tremendously) in that area.
I don't have to submit or resubmit my site to the search engines. SBI handle's that for me, as a tool.
They don't create content for me. They aren't a support service or help-desk for my readers (although they have GREAT customer service for their own customers - me - and a fantastic help-desk).
I create a content-based web site. My main effort is creating content. The main thrust of the model is CTPM - Content - Traffic - PreSelling - Monetization.
By doing certain tasks in that order (with a lot of guidance from the SBI Action Guide, another tool for keeping certain tasks on track), a new SBIer has a combination business plan and task list that ends in success.
Approaching site building in a more traditional method as a coder, or in terms of servers and SEO and such, in some ways doesn't apply. SBI creates an environment for a total package (and yes, there are lots of people who are as technically capable as you who have very successful SBI sites!)
One comes to mind right now - Marc Liron of updatexp.com. He's a Microsoft VIP with a huge SBI site, lots of great traffic (over 1million page views and over half million unique visitors per month!)- he's very technically capable and could build any kind of site he wants with any coding or tools or whatever. But he chose SBI. He participates, along with many others of us at varying levels of tech ability, in the forums.
So, would an SBI site help you? I believe it's good for anyone who wants an online presence. I don't work for SiteSell and I have no benefit in telling you that it's good. They just don't, to my knowledge, offer breakout services or menu pricing.
I'd just say do some more due diligence.
