Default is a .info domain name important to search engines?

This is a rather odd question but since A poplar hosting company has ".info" domain names on sale for $1.99, my curiosity has been effected.

Do search engines consider a .info name to be important?

Do they carry more weight than, let's say, a .blogger or .wordpress sub domain name.

What if I had a nitch about red wagons. Would I be better off with littleredwagons.wordpress.com or domainname.info as far as the search engines are concearned?

Would I get better short term results using the sub domain blogs with high page rank or by using a .info name.
