I would go with GoDaddy over Yahoo. You can register your domain and host with them and the domains are $7 or $8 every year, not just the first year.
As far as your profile site, GoDaddy may have some built-in scripts that will help you do this but I'm not 100% sure. I do know that you will have access to CMS scripts like Joomla, Drupal where you can create a more interactive site for users. You would install them on your domain through your account control panel.
