I would be cautious of any SEO book these days because SEO is pretty cut and dry. SEO boils down to this... The more popular your site is (more inbound links from relevant, quality sites), the better it will rank over time. (Provided, you continue to update your site.)

Forget counting meta keywords, keyword density and all the things SEOers use to fuss over years ago. The engines are getting smarter and smarter and is leaving less room for lazy people who try to cheat the system with linking schemes and all that other garbage. Which is a great thing because it rewards people who work hard and produce quality content.

I really can't see any reason to buy an SEO book these days unless you are a complete newbie and want to learn more about the things I just mentioned. But I've found that a lot of these SEO books become outdated almost as soon as they are published because things keep changing.

I think you can find everything you need to know for free online.
