Nope you do not need a product.
You can have a site that has nothing but articles and still make revenue from adverts. You can use a service like
Google Adsense that will display ads on your site and every time someone clicks on an ad you get paid.
To be honest my very first site was a how to guide and I used Adsense. Still to this day its a great little earner and its so easy to use.
