Before I read this thread I thought to myself I wouldn't quit my day job unless I earned at least twice what I am making now.
I, like Lisa, have no desire to climb the corporate ladder and to be honest, while my day job is a decent job, its also a dead end job

For some reason, I just don't feel the need to be one of those dog eat dog women in the corporate world and the funny thing is, I feel kind of bad saying that. I guess we are taught to want those kind of things.
I have many interests and they don't involve what I do at work. I would love to live in France one day, do my artwork and possibly start my own business there. I know that if I work hard now at something, those dreams might be reachable.
Unless you are doing what you love at a day job like some folks on here (you guys are the lucky ones!) then a 40 hour a week job is just a soul draining monotony hell.
But back to the original question... I will only feel confortable quitting when I have adequate savings and I am making twice the amount I am making now. I know I will have to buy my own health insurance which is expensive and can really add up... of course if I move to France, I won't have to do this
