I'm not sure what you mean by "linked images" but if you need something like an image gallery on your site then you want to look at the wikipedia comparison of various programs of that type:

There are a number of free/open source programs, especially so for php supporting sites (most, I think). For one example, check out php Web Gallery at
http://www.phpwebgallery.net/. I haven't used it personally but it has seemed pretty good to me as I think about using such a program sometime later.
