And I would have a similar answer. I don't think there is a cut and dry answer to that question because it depends on your plans for marketing this.

Let's say you want to promote it on a business card or flyer. Obviously a shorter domain name will work best for this scenario. But on the other hand, what if you want this book to be branded under your current site then a subdomain may be the ideal choice.

Keep in mind you can do both. You can create a subdomain for the book or just put the book in a folder on your server, but for marketing offline, flyers, etc. you can use a new domain name that redirects to it. That's sort of what I did with my AdSense eBook, Untold AdSense Facts.

The book is saved under my current 2createawebsite domain and has a very long address, but for offline marketing, word-of-mouth, and other reasons I also registered UntoldAdSenseFacts.com and it redirects to the PDF book.

So what's better depends on what you plan to do with it. I don't think there is a flat out right or wrong thing to do here.
