You also have to be careful with CSS and DIVs. I still have many visitors using IE6, which has a problem rendering CSS and DIVs. If you don't do it right, your sidebars could wind up at the bottom of the page.

Make sure you verify your site in multiple browsers and versions. Whatever you do don't mention to your visitors that your site looks better in a certain version of a browser.
