Here are a couple of suggestions:
1. This sounds simple, but did you refresh your browser a few times? Sometimes, the browser bring up the older version of a webpage.
2. did you name the modified image exactly the same as the original image?
If so, sometimes, when you're FTP-ing a file with the same name as an existing file, you have to click on a box that says "replace existing file". The reason this is, is kind of like a built in safety, so you don't accidentally write over a file that exists.
If you named it something else, just double check that the code reflects the name change (including the file extension).
